Augmented reality is digitally supplemented (augmented) view of the real world. You can turn images or even objects into interactive content. Just scan an image with your smartphone and a whole new world will appear before you.
Augmented Reality in Education
When I first heard about this concept it sounded too complicated for an English teacher, so I stopped thinking about it. However, as it was becoming more and more popular, I kept coming across the augmented reality concept everywhere: newspapers, magazines, social media, teacher trainings. Eventually, I decided to look into it more deeply.
It didn’t take me long to realize the great potential of AR for education and suddenly I was overwhelmed with ideas.
Moodle and online learning in general are particularly interesting for the Military personnel because they are usually scattered all over a country/countries, they have different working hours and busy schedules.
Based on the experience of Serbian MOD teaching team related to using Moodle for online learning, British Council Macedonia invited my colleague, Robert Buckmaster and me to introduce the Moodle platform to Macedonian MOD teachers. The goal of a three day Moodle training was to to introduce Moodle, to share our experience of using Moodle for teaching Military English and to see if it would be useful for teaching English in Macedonian MOD.
Kada sam počela da držim obuku nastavnicima za korištenje Moodle platforme u nastavi, morala sam da uzmem u obzir da je za pravljenje online kursa potrebno mnogo više vremena nego za pravljenje klasičnog F2F kursa kao i činjenicu da nastavnici koji su do tada koristili računar isključivo kao korisnici (naročito nastavnici stranih i maternjeg jezika) nemaju tehničko znanje za pravljenje interaktivnih vežbi. Iz sopstvenog iskustva znala sam da je VREME ključni faktor i da je potrebno osmisliti kurs tako da za kratko vreme nastavnici budu osposobljeni da naprave interaktivne vežbe koje će biti u potpunosti prilagođene njihovim đacima, a neće izisikivati danonoćno sedenje uz računar.
Downloading videos from Youtube is extremely important for teachers as it is one of the most improtant sources of authentic video materials. However, one of the main problems I had at the beginning is to adapt the video I needed for my own purposes.
The first issue is – transferring videos to your website/virtual classroom or downloading videos to your own computer (for offline usage).
There are numerous ways of downloading videos from the Internet. I would say that many of them are OK, but you should use the one that suits you the most. It is important to choose the one that is least time consuming and gives you the least headache.
Online (distance) learning has become very popular in last 10 years or so. Reasons for this are numerous:

1. LACK OF TIME if you asked people what they lack the most, I believe that most of them would say TIME. We are constantly in a rush, either due to too many obligations or bad time management. So, if one wishes to attend any kind of course, one literally has to ‘steal’ the time. This is where online courses come on stage. They can save not only time, but also money and they are accessible round the clock.
2. THE LATEST CONTENT AT MUCH LOWER COST – online courses do not include costs such as: textbooks, boards and markers, rooms etc and the availability of latest material is easily accessible. One of the most difficult things in designing a functional interactive course is to make it appealing for students and to anticipate potential problems they might have. When talking about course design, the word ‘problems’ does not refer to content of the course, but to its structure. Very often people might find it discouraging and annoying when they do not understand what their task is and when they cannot grasp everything by only looking at it.
In this sense we have to be very careful as to avoid the scroll of death, inappropriate letter size, fonts, spaces, line length, line spacing, page layout etc.

Students come to school to learn a language usually twice or maybe three times a week. However, if they wish to progress more quickly, they need to study more than that. If directed properly they can study alone, without a tutor.
With this in mind, we have set up a website, http://www.eltisi.com, where exercises for individual practice are added on a regular basis. The type of exercises we add is mostly determined according to our students’ needs. Exercises are grouped according to the age group and interests (kids, business, exams), and topics (grammar, vocabulary, reading).
I like being a teacher, I have always wanted to be a teacher. However, back in 2000, when I had already been teaching for almost ten years, I realized that I had to change something in my teaching and my approach to teaching if I wanted to keep up with the same level of enthusiasm and creativity.
The idea of using technology in teaching came naturally. I had already been using computer for many other things, but not for teaching. I didn’t know where to start, so I decided to take up a course. I applied for a beginner’s course at the Net Learning Languages School and despite all the difficulties (lack of technical expertise, bad internet connection), I had a lot of fun.
